Haub Law鈥檚 Mock Trial Team Finishes Strong in the Queens County District Attorney's Office 10th Annual Mock Trial Competition

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 花季传媒鈥檚 Mock Trial Team recently competed in the , which took place in the court facilities of the Queens Criminal Court. The Pace Haub Law team consisting of Skyler Pozo (2L), Maiya Aubry (2L), Alexa Saccomanno (2L), and James Page (2L), finished in second place out of the eighteen nationally ranked law schools who competed. During the intense competition, students competed before senior prosecutors and members of the defense bar with judges from Queens and Brooklyn presiding over the competition, along with prosecutors and defense attorneys.

The Haub Law Mock Trial Team successfully made it through two preliminary rounds, a blind quarterfinal round, semi-finals, before finishing in second place during the final round. 鈥淚t was a challenging competition with some of the best and brightest law students throughout the country, but I鈥檓 proud to say that our student advocates rose to the occasion,鈥 said Luis Felix 鈥15, who coached the Pace Haub Law team. 鈥淭heir dedication, hard work and knowledge of the fact pattern was reflected in their strong finish, and I look forward to seeing what else they accomplish in the courtroom.鈥 Alexa Saccomanno (2L) was also awarded the individual award of Best Opening Statement.

鈥淭he performance by our 2L students demonstrates both the strength and depth of our program,鈥 said Professor Louis Fasulo, Director of Advocacy Programs and Professor of Trial Practice. 鈥淭hese students along with the support of Coach Felix makes us all proud and is a major highlight of this year鈥檚 competitions.鈥

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 花季传媒 Trial Advocacy Program continued its outstanding record of success this fall, earning top honors at two prestigious sports law competitions hosted by Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law. Pace Haub Law Trial Advocacy teams competed in both the Villanova Baseball Filing Day Competition and the inaugural Villanova Law Hockey Negotiation Competition. These Competitions tested students鈥 negotiation, advocacy, and analytical skills in simulated professional sports settings.

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at 花季传媒 is proud to announce that ten policy motions led by Pace Haub Law students were officially adopted at the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress, held October 8鈥16, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. A cohort of four Pace Haub Law faculty members, five students, and six alumni traveled to Abu Dhabi for the 2025 World Conservation Congress where they negotiated revisions to motions, crafted new and urgent motions, presented at sessions, addressed the IUCN President, and continued their environmental advocacy.

Harrison Bench 鈥27 has always been a self-starter and highly motivated to make a lasting impact. He describes his professional career, thus far, as being marked by a robust passion for identifying and promoting policy solutions to the environmental challenges we face today. It was during high school that Harrison co-founded Students for Climate Action, an environmental non-profit organization. 鈥淭he goal of Students for Climate Action is to connect youth with their elected officials to lobby for common-sense climate and renewable energy policy.鈥
